The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine combines a traditional academic education with a community-based clinical model.
For their third and fourth years of clinical work, medical students are assigned to WSU campuses in Spokane, the Tri-Cities, Vancouver, or Everett, with the opportunity to spend significant amounts of time in rural healthcare settings.
The regional campuses have their own deans and staff and rely on clinical faculty in those areas to teach students.
Our Mission:
To develop practical solutions to challenging problems in disease prevention, healthcare access and delivery.
To train primary care physicians who will work in Washington and help alleviate a shortage of doctors, especially in rural and underserved areas.
To develop a strong research component, with faculty members who work on innovative projects, sharing what they know with students in classroom and research settings.
