College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences and WSU Extension

At its core, the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS) is committed to Washington State University’s land grant mission of economic impact, cutting-edge research, and innovative education across 27 majors, ranging across agricultural production, natural sciences, human development, and beyond. CAHNRS is an expansive and diverse college that includes 16 academic units, 13 subject matter centers, 4 research and extension centers distributed across the state, and an extension office in each of Washington’s 39 counties, in addition to one tribal extension office.

Without a doubt, agriculture, natural, and life sciences can be seen in our everyday lives. From the food we eat, to the landscapes we enjoy, to the clothes we wear, CAHNRS’ research and education enhances lives. CAHNRS faculty and students work to feed our world, protect our environment, enrich our youth, improve public health, and contribute to economic growth, not to mention making some of best cheese in the world – Cougar Gold!

As an integral part of CAHNRS, WSU Extension is the front door to the University and brings the vast knowledge of WSU directly to our youth, families, farms, ranches, communities, and businesses. Many are aware of the services Extension provides to the agricultural community, but WSU Extension provides expertise and know-how to sectors as diverse as nutrition, youth education, and technology.
