Associate Vice President

Alex Pietsch is the Associate Vice President for Corporate Relations at Washington State University. In this position, Alex leads WSU’s Office of Corporate Relations, which serves as the system-wide facilitator and coordinator of educational, research, business and philanthropic partnerships with private companies and their industries.
Prior to coming to WSU, Alex was director of the Office of Aerospace for the State of Washington, serving as the principal advisor to Governors Jay Inslee and Christine Gregoire on aerospace related issues and coordinating activities and promote growth of the industry throughout the state. In this capacity, he worked with stakeholders across the state to develop and implement Washington’s first ever statewide aerospace industry strategy and was the principle architect of the state’s successful effort to secure production of the Boeing 777X.
Alex is president of the Board of Directors of the Washington Aerospace Partnership, a collaboration between government, business and labor which is working in support of its vision of Washington—the recognized worldwide center of excellence in aerospace innovation, design, and manufacturing.
From 2001 to 2012, Alex served as the Administrator of the City of Renton’s Department of Community and Economic development which has oversight of all land use planning and building activities in the city, economic development, and intergovernmental relations. He was responsible for the city’s award-winning community marketing campaign—Renton. Ahead of the Curve.
Alex began his career in television news, several western U.S. markets, including Yakima, Wash., where he was a news anchor and reporter for the local ABC affiliate. The Seattle native holds a bachelor’s degree in history and communication from Washington State University. He now lives in West Seattle with his wife and three daughters.

Dana hales from the great state of Missouri where, prior to a brief stint as a senior development officer at Missouri University of Science & Technical, was assistant director of corporate relations at Washington University in St. Louis. There she managed the univerisity’s relationships with a number of companies. She is a graduate of the University of Missouri — St. Louis.
At Washington State University, Dana will help to build the central corporate relations function, directly managing the Office of Corporate Relations team, and developing strategic engagements with a portfolio of corporations. She is based in Seattle.
Marcy Collinson is currently appointed as Corporate Relations Coordinator at WSU. Her previous position was at the Pacific Science Center (PSC) in Seattle, serving as the Development and Fundraising Events Supervisor. At PSC she was responsible for planning and executing high-profile donor and educational events to promote support from private and corporate community leaders. Her events portfolio includes PSC’s 49th annual fundraising gala – Festival of the Fountains, the 2015 Mayor’s Arts Awards with Seattle Mayor Edward Murray, premiere events for movies Interstellar and The Hobbit, and the opening gala for Pompeii: The Exhibition. Her role at PSC also included developing marketing strategies and content design for donor events and public weekend events.
Prior to her appointment at PSC, she completed a contract position at InterIm CDA managing their donor events, annual fundraising gala, and the groundbreaking ceremony for the Hirabayashi Low-Income Housing Project in Seattle’s International District. She served as Program Manager for a Department of Labor Grant at North Seattle College (NSC) and managed the RN/LPN laboratory at NSC as the Nursing Instructional/Simulation Technician. Marcy is originally from southern California, and graduated from California State University Fullerton in 2005 with a BA in Anthropology.
Jackie Jacobs is assistant to the Associate Vice President for Corporate Relations. She manages travel and scheduling, assists with campus visits, and oversees day-to-day administrative operations for the Corporate Relations team.
Jackie also serves as administrator for the WSU downtown Seattle office, and provides support and representation for President Emeritus Sam Smith. With over 20 years of service to WSU, she joined WSU’s downtown Seattle office in 2000, and previously worked on the Pullman campus in the Men’s Basketball office. Jackie has a wide range of experience in both the public and private sectors, as well as non-profit and for-profit companies.
