Recent-Graduate_KingsDuring their years at WSU, Mike (‘06 Bus. Admin.) and Laura King (’06 Hum. Nutr., ’11 PharmD) experienced firsthand the life-changing generosity of alumni and friends. Today, they enjoy the satisfaction that comes from giving back to the University that brought them together and gave them a good start in their careers.
“I have seen that Cougs always want to help other Cougs,” says Mike, who joined a commercial real estate firm in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, immediately after graduating from WSU. The firm was owned by a WSU alumnus he met at a Cougar football game.

Mike and Laura met during their junior year and flourished at WSU. Student-led organizations and campus activities enriched their student experience and enabled them to forge lifelong friendships. Mike participated in student government and Pi Kappa Phi fraternity; Laura was active in Chi Omega sorority. Both received the President’s Leadership and Service Award.

Mike now serves as a volunteer on the WSU Foundation Board of Trustees, and is an active member of the Recent Graduate President’s Associates committee.

“I enjoy being exposed to all the different areas where WSU has impact throughout the state,” Mike says. “I hope to expand the connections between new graduates and established alums.” Through their gifts of time and money to WSU, Mike and Laura hope to give current students the same opportunities they received.
