For Debra Sanders, being able to see the impact of her gifts to the University makes giving all the more fulfilling.

“It is nice to actually know the students who are benefitting from my support,” she says.

Debra, affectionately called Debbe by her friends and coworkers, has worked for WSU Vancouver for 28 years. Debbe Sanders supports WSUOver her career, as she climbed in rank, eventually reaching her current position as the faculty director of the master of accounting program in Vancouver, she has watched the cost of tuition also rise steadily. Unfortunately, such changes sometimes have drastic impact on the lives of students, threatening their ability to continue their education. But by supporting the WSU Vancouver Scholarship Fund, Debbe is doing what she firmly believes is her part to help.

“I think it is important for employees of WSU to support the University because it shows that we take pride in where we work and that we support the education we are providing our students,” says Debbe.

Knowing that independent research is a critical necessity in students’ education, she also designates gifts to The Libraries at WSU—benefitting faculty research, too, she says.

Debbe’s passionate support of WSU is inspired by the very students she teaches every day. “My goal is to make the road to an outstanding education a little easier for our students.”
