Big Ideas for Faculty
If students are the lifeblood of a university, then world-class faculty are its heart. WSU's world-class faculty conduct innovative, leading-edge research and—through their teaching—raise the caliber of undergraduate and graduate education. Competition for outstanding faculty is high among research universities. To recruit and retain the best, WSU must be able to match or exceed offers made by other institutions—which makes significant private investment in endowed chairs and professorships imperative.
The highest academic gift designations possible, endowed chairs and professorships, provide support for faculty salaries, graduate assistantships, and equipment and research needs.
Through the Campaign for Washington State University, we seek $250 million in private funding to endow faculty positions across the University. These positions will help to ensure the best education for our students and will help to maintain WSU's position on the cutting-edge of research and discovery. Endowed faculty support enhances the performance and prestige of individual programs and departments, makes innovative discoveries possible, and empowers WSU students, faculty, and staff in pursuit of big ideas to benefit the people of Washington, our nation, and our world.
